OK, hopefully my paperwork will be all finished up within the next 6 to 8 weeks. My SBR will be an AR 10.5". I want it to be my SHTF CQB gun. So, reliability is very important to me. I like what I've heard about the LMT 10.5er but I'm considering the LWRC 10.5 M6A1 upper. I ain't rich so at $1400 the LWRC raises the hair on the back of my neck:eek:. There's a lot of ammo, accessories, RD sights, and even other guns (possibly SBRs:D) That I could get with the extra $ for the LWRC. So, what's your advice on a reliable upper that I could stake my life on?

Ok, this will be my last poll for a while....I swear!:D

I'd have to say that you agonize over decisions more often and longer than anyone that I have ever met. Just make a decision and buy something already! Oh and get the Noveske 10.5 ... ;)

DI is dependable as long as you purchase quality to begin with.

Fixed.

I have both the LMT 10.5" and the LWRC M6A1 10.5" uppers and I trust my life with either one. Both have been through various training courses. Although the LWRC is my current primary (as a trunk rifle) and the LMT is going to be my primary home defense rifle (with YHM suppressor) as soon as my Form 1 is approved and makes its way into my grubby little hands. :D

You should have gone with 11.5"

Although GotM4 says that 12.5" is his optimal length.

I would go with the LMT 10.5. That is my go-to SHTF rifle as well as my work horse for patrol/ SWAT.

I just can't justify the spending to get the LWRC however if I had the cash I would never turn one down.

With the extra money you can get optics, mags, ammo......all the important stuff!!

Yeah these uppers w/ or w/o VIS - http://noveskerifleworks.com/cgi-bin/imcart/display.cgi?item_id=u-105v-556&cat=57&page=1&search=&since=&status= or they have the full rifles too.

or you can get a custom upper built with his barrel, ok I'll go ahead and pimp Grant and G&R again -

Edit: If you were asking about a Noveske with a piston then I misunderstood the question and no.

Fortunately,
I listed on my form 1 (in the additional info area) additional barrels of 12.5" and 14.5" Also, additional calibers of 6.8 SPC & 7.62x39

:D:D:D:D:D

I'm certain the Noveskes are awesome, but they may be pushing the edge of my price range. If the LMT 10.5" can get the job done, than I'm likely going that way.

Actually, I was thinking of the N4 10.5; sorry I wasn't more specific. I am anxiously awaiting its release.

A 10.5" Noveske N4 Light Upper would be Irresistible . Is Noveske working on releasing one of these?

What no HK 416 on the list? I have an LMT, Hk 416, and an F1 on the way for the 556 pistol. I also used to have a LWRC in 10". The LMT can't be beat for the money, LWRC is an excellent upper as well and even better suppressed. I think the sig is going to be my fav though. Very smooth shooting and accurate to boot. All said and done the LMT is good to go.

I just decided to get the 416. I took it over and put it in the safe at the sheriff's office so the ATF didn't get weird. I can't wait until my M16 paperwork clears! Blammo:D

Mind if we ask what you paid for the HK416? Did youbuy the upper or the whole rifle?

I think Wes Grant of MSTN might already have a few custom cut from John Noveske. I could be wrong however. He did have a picture of one posted that was Ion Bonded at AR15.

$3600 for a NIB 10.5. I also got the Diopter sights. Not cheap, but I am worth it!:D

Waaahooooooooo. Well, unfortunately, I am not worth that much:D:D:D:D Well, not that much in one gun anyway;).

Funny but 3600 is what I payed for mine. Would I do it again. I don't know. Parts are stupid. 700 for a BCG. Crazy. As to your qwest for an upper I would also suggest the Bravo Company 11.5 upper. It's not out yet but looks to be top notch.

Hah, don't ask me how much my M16 lower cost!

Once you buy an M16, it warps your perception of what is a "reasonable" price as far as accessories go.

Actually it warps your perception of all prices in the firearms world. You look at semiauto items that are several thousand dollars and think, "wow, that is inexpensive".

pdxlmt
10-07-08, 20:01
Yes that is the upper only. I think the worst is my HK sear. 13.5k for a tiny piece of metal. But Hk or M16 are a crap load of fun.

When 16s were going for between 4 and 5 thousand dollars I thought buyers were WARPED!

I wouldn't pay that or current market prices no matter how much money I had.

Different strokes for different folks. I paid $7,000 for my first Colt M16 in 2002, then $9,000 for my second (a Colt AR15 model 614 factory fullauto) in 2004. I would do it all over again and am very happy I bought when I did....though I wish I'd bought sooner. I love my M16s.....would be the absolute last MG I ever sold.

No kidding. Back in the dot-bomb of 2000, I watched my stock market account drop by about 1/3 of its original value. While it was going gang-busters, I contemplated selling about 1/3 of it to buy transferable MGs, but decided against it. I should have sold all of it and bought MGs.

VAding,

I will take some pictures next week. I put the upper in the vault at the local Sheriffs' Dept for safekeeping until my paperwork clears.
