Im looking at different optic setups that will be for a midlength rifle. I was looking at goin aimpoint ml3 2moa with a 3xmag then realized for the money i would spend on that setup i could buy a trijicon.. i have NO experience with either trijicon or aimpoint... only eotech:rolleyes:... Thoughts?

Go with the aimpoint with a larue flip to side mounT. This way you have a more flexable or more adaptible platform. You will be able to use it in CQB easier than an ACOG.

I personally think the ACOG works great even in CQB. It is much nicer to have an ACOG with longer shots too, IMO.
I just think the Aimpoint w/ 3x magnifier is a bit bulky, but you might not feel that way.
You cannot go wrong with either choice, but I will say that the ACOG's really are good at close up work too.
I think the ONLY time I would not TOTALLY be happy with an ACOG, would be kicking doors in, when you're THAT close.
However, it's certainly attainable evern with an ACOG, and honestly, even the red dots are not perfect in that scenario either, IMHO.
I think irons are just the way to go when it comes to kicking doors in, or MAYBE an Eotech, with it's wide "heads up display" window.
If you desire the magnification, I say go with an ACOG and you will be very happy.
If you don't care about magnification so much, then by all means the Aimpiont...
I sold off my last ACOG to Pat Rogers, a TA31 RCO M4 that was brand new in the pkg. I had two of them actually, and he got the last one.
I am still kicking myself for selling those off. Nicest optics I've ever owned...
I still love the Aimpoints though...

I have been very happy with my Trijicon TA33R-8 compact ACOG (http://trijicon-inc.com/User/parts/products1.cfm?PartID=557&back_row=2&categoryID=3).

However, it is not the best option for a dedicated CQB weapon. It can work in that role, and if you have other guns dedicated to that role then a separate carbine with the TA33R-8 is a good thing to have.
