An interesting Bond era, it was. One of my favorite movies scenes ever, Bond and the Bond girl have just "done it" on the side of a mountain. She's s spy and he knows it; he's now holding her at gunpoint.
Bond Girl" You wouldn't kill me after what we just did, now would you?"

Bond: "Well I certainly would have killed you before....."

Roger Moore added a more humorous side to the James Bond character.

The best Roger Moore bond flick was "For Your Eyes Only". All the others were kind of meh, although I did like "Man with the Golden Gun". That one usually gets savaged by critics. I will say that I think Moore played the part way too long. He was already looking like a geezer by the time he quit.

The bond films that stared Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton were the best as far as I am concerned. RIP Roger Moore.

Moore was Bond for me. He made my childhood better for a 90 minutes or so and for that, I'm eternally grateful. A good Bond movie was a trip out of reality and a good time had by all. The reference Bond movie for me, was Live And Let Die, which I can watch over and over...

BTW, I believe that movie still hold the world record for longest boat jump.

Roger Moore was the Bond I grew up on in the 70's, so I associate him with good times I spent at the theatre with my mom or dad.

My favorite Moore movie was Cannonball Run, where played a guy (Seymour Goldfarb, Jr.) playing Roger Moore/Bond. Hi-lareous.

While I give the nod to Connery as the iconic Bond, Roger Moore was the guy I grew up with. Sometimes a bit too campy but overall I enjoyed everything he did.

I preferred him as the Saint. Less campy and more sixties cool. Plus it was my first exposure to the sexy Volvo P1800.

I agree, he was better as "The Saint" and he had a heck of a run at it.
Roger Moore was ill most of his life and had numerous close calls with these illnesses, it's a wonder he made it as long as he did.
RIP Roger.

I preferred him as the Saint also, and never liked him as Bond. Connery IS Bond.

Love that movie. Lt Shawn Fynn was a great character. I grew up with RM as 007, so those films will always have a lot of nostalgia for me. How about ffolkes? There's another of his movies that I really enjoyed.

My brothers and I still get a good laugh about the time Mom got mad when we rented Octopussy. Moore was my favorite Bond.

Roger played Admiral Lawrence Dobbs, a shady hustler who was a merchant sailor in the movie, The Quest.

I can honestly say that I never watched that show.

Was another in a long line of shows similar to "The Avengers", "Man From U.N.C.L.E.", etc. In some ways the "odd couple" of the secret investigator genre. It was mostly only watchable for the female co stars, a lot like watching "The Avengers" for Diana Rigg.

My vote is for Wild Geese as well.

As with others, he was Bond when I was growing up. I remember the first time I saw a Connery Bond film and was like; "Mom who the hell is that?". I had no clue anyone else had played Bond up to that point lol.

The Man with the Golden Gun is probably my favorite of the Moore films, but I think his run was the cheesiest and he fully admitted this.

Sir Roger Moore also wanted to quit much earlier sighting his age but Albert Broccoli wouldn't have it. Finally he would have no more stating he was too old which sent Eon Productions scrambling to find the next Bond after A View to a Kill.

I do believe Roger Moore was a bit older than Sean Connery.
Ironic that they went with an older Bond isn't it?

Of all the actors who played Bond (in my opinion):

1. Pierce Brosnan most looked the part
2. Sean Connery was the first, and had the most "Old School" appeal (kind of like only Shatner could play Capt. Kirk)
3. Roger Moore had the most humor and charm
4. (Supposedly) Daniel Craig is most like the Bond in Ian Fleming's books
5. Timothy Dalton is probably the most underappreciated, but then again only made, what, two Bond movies?
6. George Lazenby is the most forgotten

I don't even count David Niven as a James Bond actor.
