Suspected suicide bomber shot at Brussels railway station

He was shot after reportedly setting off a small explosion and no-one else is believed to have been injured.

Police say the situation is under control. The station and the city's Grand Place were evacuated.

In March 2016, 32 people died in attacks on Brussels claimed by the Islamic State (IS) group.

According to Belgian newspaper La Libre, quoting prosecutors, the man who was shot was wearing a rucksack and a bomb belt.

He detonated a device when he attracted the attention of soldiers in the station, the paper says.

Several Belgian media outlets quote witnesses as saying the man shouted "Allahu Akbar" ("God is great" in Arabic) before setting off the explosion.

Will already noted that it's sad we have to put dates on these posts... but yeah.... think about that.

"Oh, are you talking about the 6/15 London van attack, the 6/17 London van attack, or the old-school 5/29 London van attack?" (Dates made up.)

I can't imagine putting up with this much terrorism and not doing something about it. But then I live 4000+ miles away from any city that has such regular terrorism.

Thank God he didn't take out any innocents.

My guess is the Jihadis will take this shooting and have guys start to act strange on public transport in the hope of getting shot, but with out any contraband- and then go after the police for murderous profiling.
