UK: Walking Stick Confiscated as Offensive Weapon
I already knew self defense & handguns were banned in the UK, but I had no idea walking sticks were as well. 78 year old retired teacher Philip Clarkson Webb was walking down the street with his walking stick when he found himself surrounded by Police who took his walking stick away saying it was an "offensive weapon". He was then left to shuffle along the street as best he could with no walking aid. To add insult to injury, when he later took his receipt in to ask for it back, he was told they had lost it:

They must have known he was a troublemaker the moment they saw him.

With his white hair, wax jacket and glasses, 78-year-old Philip Clarkson Webb clearly ticked all the boxes any eagle-eyed policemen would mark as 'danger'.

And as he shuffled along the pavement towards them there was one thing above all they deemed to pose a threat - his walking stick.

The officers surrounded the retired classics teacher and informed him the 3ft wooden cane was an 'offensive weapon' and had to be confiscated . . . When he later went to collect it from his local police station in Southborough, Kent, with his police receipt, he was told it had been misplaced . . .

Hearing stuff like this makes me wish we
had let Germany take Britain during WW2.

What a bunch of numbskulls.

Before? I think its too late already. What the hell is going on with them. This is the same nation that won the battle of Brittan? Cant be. This must be an alternate universe.

A nation that tried to conquer the world has been reduced to SHEEPLE...

Our future unless we put an end to it....

Just got back from 6 weeks in Australia, went to a SSAA (Sporting Shooters Association of Australia) and it was extremely depressing. Way to many rules and regulations and now the Green Party is pushing for a complete ban on pistols after the Finland shooting a couple of weeks back.

It is also illegal to carry a knife (any size) unless you have cause, like I told my cousin who is a police prosecutor that they are the ones turning a tool into a illegal weapon.

Great country that has been screwed by the politicians, when the initial ban/confiscation program was implemented after the Port Arhtur shootings not one shooting professional/club member was invited ti participate in any of the legislation meetings before the government changed the laws and banned all semi-auto rifles and pump/semi-auto shotguns.

It is a really bad situation down there, that will probably get worse due to less members of the public shooting every year.

Those folks need another revolution: within their own country! Their own fundamental human rights are so far gone that they are under complete and total government tyranny already. At the moment it seem like a "soft tyranny", i.e., they still have some fundamental human rights left. But they're slipping fast, and obviously the socialistic government they live under has already deprived them of any right to defend themselves against individual criminals or against a tyrannical government.

I pray that even if Obama and a Democratically controlled Congress are given power here in the U.S., that we--the People--will never let things go as far as they have in Britain.

England serves as an example of what happens to a society of a great people, when they allow their government to slowly, and methodically, take control of their liberties in the interest of public safety.

It starts out with things like a National Firearms Act and progresses to bicycle helmet and seat belt laws. Eventually they regulate smoking and trans fats, with their sites on on the personal micromanagement of the peasants. Total power through laws and taxes.
The peasants are eventually so dumbed down through public education and indoctrination that they willingly elect a socialist to govern the "new world" citizens.

I hate to see it happen to England and Australia, and I'm just glad that its not the way things are going in the good ol' USA.......

Best quote here to date;

The power and control of the Government has exceded the consent of the governed

Stand by.....we're not that far behind if you stop to think about it.

Seat belt laws, smoking bans cause its good for you, bicycle helmet laws, motorcycle helmet laws, insurance dictating how you should be dressed when you ride, freaky gun laws, criminals suing victims,

Not nearly as far down the shitter as once Great Britain but we're in the pipe.

Pre-moderated comments makes me wonder if comments promoting liberty will even be seen.

Thats what my sarcastic response pointing out. We are walking down the exact same path as Brits and the Ausies. At the rate we are passing control laws, the cops will be grabbing the walking sticks from old men here in less than 30 years.

Yeah this is crazy. I lived there for 4 1/2 years and saw some real silly things go on. But who would have ever thought that they would take a walking stick let along from an old geezer? Oh my god walking is that nations national past time! Any sporting goods store you go in over there has walking sticks of all types. They are bonkers over walking, hiking, and camping. WTF is the matter with them?

I took it to be sarcasm when first read but often I am so sarcastic myself that it blinds me to the sarcasm of others. I mean't no harm though and I completely agree. Our government is so far up are arses its pathetic.

Sadly, we will never see the day when the people in our country understand and confess that we [collectively] have done these things to ourselves.

We elect our officials, we tolerate their agenda and insanity, we make bad decisions, we are selfish, we raise a generation unprepared for life, we give up our rights. We are a society where personal accountability is a foreign concept.

Rant off.......
