I love my G19 and decided to get a G17 today. Wow, I had no idea the grips were so different. The 19 feels great, the 17 on the other hand feels like a freakin' brick.

So being a bit pissed because I just ordered two G17 mags, I began to look at the M&P(again). The difference was night and day. The grip felt like it was molded specifically for my hand. I find the ergonomics are absolutely superb on the M&P. I wanted to like the 17, but the M&P felt too good to pass up.

And it's amazing how similar the action is of the M&P to the Glock.

Yes I agree. Thats one of the things I noticed initially. It really does seem like they just sat down with a Glock 17 and said.... "hmmmmm, how can we make this better".

Fixed it for you, IMO there is nothing "better" about the M&P. It's a different feel for those who do not like the Glock. I prefer the G17, I guess it's "better" for me. :p

Both are excellent weapons, you will be happy with the M&P.

You're right, "better" is indeed subjective. I should have said better for me. :)

Now if the M&P proves as reliable as the 17, we'll be cooking with grease. And if Todd Green's 50k test is any indication, I should be good to go.

That is why they make so many different guns :D.

I too have a Glock 19 and love it.

No problems.

I think you will find that the M&P is as reliable as the G-17.

My Department has around 1,200 M&P 9mm's fielded for going on three years now. A few of the guns have rather high round counts. (Mine is only around 8K).

No real issues seen so far...

Thank you for the report. You wouldn't happen to be Cincinnati PD would you?

If that's all that happens at 40K rounds, I'm good with that. :)

Are the M&Pc's roughly the same size as the G19's? They appear smaller in photos.

The G19 is larger.

G19 vs M&P 9C:

The size game goes like this:

G17 > M&P 9/40 > G19 > M&P 9C/40C > G26

The M&P 45 is around the same size as the G17:

Now I know in SOME places there are people who swear I'm a clueless boob who has no clue what I'm talking about because I assert that the M&P 9 is smaller than the G17, but thankfully there are enough people here who actually OWN THESE WEAPONS to steer you straight. ;)

Anyone who says the M&P isn't smaller than the 17 has never handled both of them. The full size M&P9 is cleary smaller than the 17.

See, that's what I thought too...but apparently the manufacturer's specs are a superior source of information....this despite the fact that none of the critics could tell me the exact method Glock uses to actually obtain the dimensions they post on their website.

Where I come from we call that a "clue". ;)

If you need Glock magazines at a decent price, give this site a try:

$16.99 for G17 magazines isn't bad.
