Nice build and parts list. Every time a see a post on a forum about the Gunner barrel I am impressed by the performance. It will be in my next build. Might try their new stainless 5r match version in that profile

AndyLate:

You're setting the bar pretty high with that one, brother! I really like the end result and the thought that went into both setting the specs and then meeting them.

I'm particularly appreciative of your optics solutions. A lot of people carefully put together a nice, lightweight carbine, and then plunk 20 or 30 ounces of optic atop it. Yes, the 30mm illuminated reticle 1-4, 1-6 and 1-8 scopes do bring a lot of capacity to the table, but (as always) you're paying for that in weight. How much of that capacity do you need? Where is the balancing point between "I need a good quality optic" and "that doesn't weigh a ton"?

This strikes me especially because I've got the 20" bug, and the rifle I keep dreaming up looks an awful lot like yours . . . down to more or less having settled on a Leupold VX2 2-7.

Thanks, Moonlight.

After building and shooting the rifle, the only thing I would do differently is think long and hard before buying the (any) bipod.

I have already removed the 4x12 and re-installed the 2x7, I just like the way the rifle handles and shoots with it.

The Aero extended mount was perfect for me - with the 2-7 scope.

Thanks for the response! I'll bet you're going to enjoy your twenty.

Great build OP. Looks like it most certainly shoots straight as well. ;)
