View Full Version : Ba hanson .625 vs .750
I have a .750" 16" hanson and love it. Super balanced gun and does 1 moa at 100yds and have shot it out 400yds no problem with 1-4x viper pst. Im about to start my sbr project and was debating between the .625 and .750. The weight savings dont seem like much(3-4oz depending on length), and the .750 is a hair cheaper. But on the other hand is it a waste of weight? Will the .625 do everything the .750 will amd still be lighter? I will be adding saker 7.62 in the future. Any body have any insight? I also have a 14.5" elw bcm upper that has a .625 gas block and a similar profile and have never had any trouble, shoots great and havent noticed any poi difference after long strings of fire but i gavent heard if adding a suppressor has been ok'd by bcm or not?

3 oz difference in the 10.3 .625 vs .750. All my barrels except my 16" DD use .750 GB's. I went that route because it seemed to me that .750 was just more common. (Which I suppose can also be a bad thing in part shortages.)
I have a 10.3 Hanson (.750). Great barrel, great SBR. I think for some those 3 ounces will matter, but for me it doesn't really matter. I would be interested to know if the difference is just about weight or if there are some other factors at play. I sent you a PM with an email for a guy at BA who has always taken good care of me and answered my questions. Maybe shoot him an email and ask him?

My guess is there is a difference in profile. I don't think there would be a 3 ounce difference between a .625" and a .750" gas journal. If you take a close look at the the Hanson 10.3" barrels, the .750" barrel has a straight profile from chamber to gas block. The .625" barrel is tapered

I was just going off the specs on BA's website. It does seem like a lot though.
