Is anyone using the Vortex spare battery holder on their rifle? If so, what do you think of it?

It seems a bit expensive at $14, especially since I'd need about 6 of them. I have multiple rifles with electronics that I don't want to store with batteries installed, but also don't want to forget the battery if I grab a rifle for a quick short notice range trip.

What other options are there to attach a spare CR2032 battery to your rifle?

Thanks,

Does your grip have a storage compartment?

+1 on the grip compartment for batteries. Good to stick a pair of ear plugs in there too just in case.

Allegedly, putting the batteries in a Ziploc bag and wrapping a rubber band around it with some initial snugness will hold it in place in a stock A1/A2 grip, but I have not tried that myself.

Taping or inner tubing the spare battery to the sling or some other non-heat producing area should work also.

Do you mean this one?

I had it then I had the Sparc, I found that the built in retention was not very good and it was easily slid back and forth on the rail with a bit of force. You could easily lock it into place with some rail ladders though.

I ended up removing it as I swapped the optic out for an Aim point t Pro.

The battery life on the Sparc just was not that good.

I went from TangoDown's BG16 to BG18, so now I'm in the same boat.

Magpul has some grip storage but I use Hogue grips on all my builds. The have a storage system that locks into a groove that runs inside the grip. You can use a 556 or a 762 round to snap it out.
So far it has worked well for me with about 2 years of use. The little battery trays could be better designed but it does what it does well and best of all it doesn't rattle like you have some marbles loose inside.
