It is kinda/sorta accurate. The animation depicts the order and way things happen in the ejection cycle wrong, but not in a way that is likely to matter to someone trying to understand what the parts of the gun do.

Um..what? For me the video was providing precisely that kind of helpful information in understanding what the parts of the gun do.

Which is what I said: "...not in a way that is likely to matter to someone trying to understand what the parts of the gun do."

But the slide starts moving while the round is still moving in the barrel, and the barrel doesn't begin tilting down until the forward barrel lug impacts the locking block - unlike what the video shows. The voice over also makes it sound like the gun won't fire unless in full battery, but that isn't true and there really isn't a mechanism for that.

Like I said, "kinda/sorta accurate".

I have no idea what you are talking about and totally disagree with you.

How can you disagree with something you don't understand?

The animation shows the slide and barrel static until the bullet is out of the barrel. That isn't what actually happens. Do you understand that?

Watch this video starting at 2:15ish. You'll see the barrel and slide begin moving to the rear as a unit, you'll also see a jet of gas escape the barrel before the bullet exits - that gas escaped around the bullet and down the barrel before the bullet fully embedded against the lands and grooves.

Look at the slide to barrel relationship and you'll see that barrel is not unlocked from the slide until after the bullet leaves the barrel.

So, yes, the slide and the barrel are moving before the bullet leaves.

Not really something essential to know unless you are a weapon designer.

I agree, though, the animation explains how the firing mechanism works, in particular how the safeties function.

Whatever...the video clearly explains how the Glock operates. Why anyone is getting their panties in a twist over it is beyond me. Face palm.

Dang guy, take a chill pill. This is a gun forum, folks are into minutiae. He is correct.

As for me, it is 101 out, mowed the lawn earlier, I'm bored.
