I noticed most of the 7.62x51 Nato has a sealed primer and bullet. I've mostly been buying 308 which does not have any sealant. Is it really necessary to have it sealed even if i'm buying a decent amount for long term storage? All my ammo goes into ammo cans in the original boxes with some recharged desiccant packs.

Not necessary at all unless you know you're going to get submerged. Even then, regular ammo is OK for short periods

Alright awesome I always wondering about ammo sotting in a hot humid warehouse, but I've never had any issues anyway.

Just keep it in a cool dry place and it will last a long, long time.......years.

Although it may not be recommended I have gotten reloaded ammo wet with no ill effects. I have also fired reloads that were several years old and had many temp swings and shot as well as I recorded when initially loaded.
