I'm putting together my first ar-10 (armalite lower & lpk) and am finding some notable differences. I thought that the grips were supposed to be identical to the ar-15 but the tango down grip I installed shows a 1/16" gap at the front edge and the selector spring hole in the grip clearly does not line up with hole in the lower. An additional twist is that the take down spring and detent is drilled from the bottom just like the selector hole (not from the back like my ar-15's) and is retained by the grip just like the selector spring ( but the grip needs a recessed hole to contain it or it is a bitch to control when installing the grip). Has anyone else come across this situation?
I'll probably just drill and tap the take down hole for a small set screw, shorten the spring a bit and be done with it but the selector hole offset and poor fitting grip tells me a different grip is in order.
