Ok so as it has been stated before that:

American Eagle is Federals econo line.

That I can dig, but how is the Federal XM193 (brown box) different from the AE Black box (which is also marked XM193)?

Would also like to know this myself...

The brown box XM193 is Military reject stuff. But don't worry, it's still very high quality stuff. The Gov. can and will reject things for very minor problems, because of their very high standards.

AE XM193 is the reject stuff that got rejected before it got to the military testing......... Anything AE is the bottom of the barrel stuff, just before the company itself trashes it, but it "just" makes specs, so it is sold.

I am curious as to where you got your info. Not doubting it per se, but I just fired more AE 62gr. FMJ in my Noveske carbine today and it functioned flawlessly as did the AE 150gr. 7.62 ammo.

2 friends that work at ATK, one is an ammo engineer, the other is a company rep.

I didn't say that the AE stuff wouldn't work, I said it was bottom of the barrel stuff as to specs. Overall it tends to have more problems than the other lines of their ammo combined.

That's interesting. Like I said I just put a few hundred rounds of 63gr. AE bonded softpoints, 62gr. FMJ and 150gr. 7.62 and it all worked great. I saw no issues or accuracy problems. Oh well......

I don't know. I'm guessing its ammo that didn't somehow measure up the the QC check for XM193.....

I can tell you that one of my VA Arms 3gun teammates and I have had many more problems with black box XM193. Personally I've had 2 ammunition failures with brown box out of 8K rounds, my teammate and I have had at least 10 failures (maybe more) in less than 2K rounds with black box. So we don't use black box for competition any longer (just for practice). The failures were all with White Oak .223 Wylde chambers which all other .223 and 5.56mm ammo works just fine including brown box XM193.

WOW!

I didn't know there was any difference from the Fed XM193 and AEXM193.

I assumed it was the same ammo, and they just put it in a more commercial looking box.

What kind of problems have your team mates experienced, Ralph? :p

I have a few hundred rounds of the black box. I might have to check it out.

We may have to check that theory next weekend if possible. :D

I'm ready. I didn't find a G19 mag yet, but I haven't cleaned out my shooting tote.
