Current value of MSAR E4 complete rifle in 5.45x39mm (only about 20-25 made)???

I also have a 5.45x39mm caliber conversion kit which is a barrel and bolt (caliber conversion kit came with one mag too). I got these to have for spares.

I wouldn't think they would be too extreme in price. With the availability of factory Steyr rifles at $1700. And from what I've read MSAR didn't develop a great reputation. But I don't have any first hand experience with the brand.

The last 6.8mm MSAR I saw, and I don't even think it was a complete and caliber marked rifle, I think it was just a conversion kit with host went for around $4000.

With something that specific from a low volume manufacturer it really comes down to having a buyer. If two or more people "have to have it" they might shoot the moon to get it. I've paid a lot of money, sometimes even more than what is considered it's actual value, because I "needed one" and it was something uncommon.

At the same time, I feel Colt 6920 rifles, compared to everything else available, should be worth $1,500 as they are far superior to rifles that sell for $2,000 or more. But the market is flush and you'd be damn lucky to get $1,000 for a NIB 6920.

The best way to find out what something is actually worth is a no reserve auction on gunbroker. But you might be disappointed with the end result. You could also start with a start price that you'd be willing to accept and see if you get any bites.

I have an XCR and it's a good thing I love the rifle, because I could never sell it for anywhere near what I paid for it even at FFL pricing. It's too much of an oddball to be in demand and it doesn't have a cool early 80s vintage "preban" status to make it collectible.

I almost bought one years ago. Glad today that i didn't buy it. I read way to many problem posts about it.

Though it's rare, I don't see it being worth much over $1000 given the availability of AUG's and the reliability reputation of the MSAR. That said, it's a very thin market, so I could be wrong. Decide what the minimum is that you're willing to take for it. Put it on GunBroker with your minimum as the reserve. Be sure to do the 14 day auction. In a couple of weeks you'll know if you value it more than anyone else in the country that doesn't already have one.

They are indeed valuable rifles, To the right buyer. Msar was a train wreck of a company unfortunately. I had a couple of them in 5.56 and liked them a lot.

Their follow through was atrocious when it came to what the promised. So much hope down the toilet.
