Kevin,

Why did you choose the 12" rail for a 14.5" gun?

edit: I only ask because I know you have a good reason:D

Uhm, the barrel is like scratched and stuff. Did it fall off a truck or something? :D

Actually at "TOS" most would have advised that beauty is more important than function. You will not find that here. Reliability and function are kind here. Looks are dead last on the list. I think most here would prefer the 6ft drop over the shoulder onto gravel to make sure everything is secure on the weapon. :D

Looks good Kevin. I use the DPMS blocks too for AR15s and AR10s. Now I'm just waiting on my Larue barrel wrench.

Kevin,

I thought you were not a fan of a ret screw FSB/gas block set up ?

Looks like it might have a cross pin in the back there...

Maybe? I could be wrong though.

It will be pinned soon ;) - but the bbl is drilled to dimple it so far.

but for a low pro under the rail -- I dont think it will take as many impacts that I could give a regular FSB.

That uppers had a rough go in a previous life.

A low profile gas block that is in dimples with red loctite and covered by a rail is pretty safe IMHO. I also fit my GB's so that they require some effort to install.

Same reason as the KAC MRE

Longer tube so 1) the shooter does not get burned (albiet a can does get hot)
2) the tube can be rested on stuff without affecting the barrel

and so my finger dont not rest on the FSB (I still finger point when using a vert grip) - I burnt my nomex glove (and finger) on a 10.5 w/ 7.0 Larue tube.

More to come as Larue parts come in :D

Do we have another Larue whore in the making?;)

Yeah well I am sure if you ask mfingar nicely he might lend you some of his gear. I acn only imagine how much he spent on all that gear.

Be careful with all that LaRue stuff, I wouldn't want you to get a scratch under the rail from the levers.....................................;) .

OMG! You didn't re-krylon that barrel while it was apart?

As for the DPMS upper receiver block- that's got to be the nicest thing DPMS makes. I used one that Nitrox lent me for my VLTOR upper and it worked perfectly.

I think it is slightly out of spec though- had to use a hammer to get the pins through my "true mil-spec billet upper" :p

PS- Kevin- what did you have as handguards before? KAC? Wanna sell 'em?

As long as it means I am not losing my mind. Which I thought I was.
