Anyone make a cheap "stubby" VFG?
This is for a .22lr SBR upper and I don't want to pay $50+ for a Tangodown. Thx.

How about buying one of THESE (http://www.tapco.com/proddesc.aspx?Id=b4540b26-932c-4780-8ed7-13da9e873033) (or something similar) and cutting it down to size?

I was going to suggest the same thing. Cheapy grip + hacksaw = cheapy stubby grip :D

Yep - that's a way to do it. My only concern is that the bottom still fits after I cut it.
Honestly it probably won't. And really I don't think there is much you can realistically store in a stubby anyway. You might could fit one CR123 battery in it I guess. But what good does one do?
I have one factory TD Stubby and one I made from my old TD. I cut it down, ground the threads off the cap, and epoxied it in place. Then painted it FDE. It turned out just as nice as the factory one, minus the operational cap. Although I don't store anything in the factory one anyway.
