Any one with an AR15 or M4 answer a few questions.

Is it necessary to remove extractor from bolt for fields strip and cleaning

Can a adapter be used and what one to connect a vertical
grip on this type of forearm/heat shield I googled with no answer

Thank You

Welcome!

It is not necessary but it is not overly difficult. The military allows soldiers to do it so you know they don't think it is too complicated LOL.

Once you get the bolt out of the rifle you maintain pressure on the eextractor and use the firing pin, or a punch, to push the extractor retaining pin out. Heres a you tube video with the extractor removal beginning at about 7:00 minutes:

I've not attached a VFG to the stock handguards, know they make rails that you can put onto the handguards and then attach a VFG, but seems to me it would be kind of shaky. Here's a video on that also: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enIrfC4Ct6I

What I did was buy Magpul MOE M-Lok Handguards, and a Magpul M-Lok VFG:

This went on my daughter's rifle and it seems pretty sturdy.

Good luck.

Here's a good video on M4 maintenance. It should answer most of your questions.

I'll typically remove it about once every few range trips. As 26inf states, it's not all that difficult. It gives me an opportunity to inspect things in a little more detail, and it makes it a little easier to clean inside the bolt.

That sort of regimen isn't necessary; just my personal preference. As long as you're not going thousands upon thousands rounds without an inspection, you should be just fine in whatever frequency you choose.

Inanimate objects are not evil. There is, however, some debate on whether demons can attach themselves to inanimate objects. Yes, clean the extractor for cleaning.

Since the extractor has already been addressed, here is a link to a rail just for the carbine handguard. Any picatinny VFG can be attached to it.

I do not clean mine every time I shoot, but every time I clean, I remove the extractor & clean it. It doesn't add significant time to the process, and it's really easy. Kinda surprised that I may be in a minority here.

I remove and clean extractor about every 1000 rounds. I may be doing it too often but it doesn't hurt.
