Who makes quality 6.8 uppers (that don't break the bank) and how can one know if one company's uppers will work with another's lowers (a 5.56 AR lower)? I know Bushmaster makes a 6.8 upper. Will it fit properly on a Smith lower (for example)? Or do "Mil-Spec" issues come into play with regard to this?

Thanks!

Dan

Any quality AR15 upper should fit on any quality AR15 lower.

There are good 6.8 mm uppers and there are cheap 6.8 mm uppers, but there are not too many good, cheap 6.8 mm uppers...

Just like making sure your AR15 has a true 5.56 mm chamber and proper barrel twist, it is also CRITICAL in 6.8 mm to use the original AMU/"Murray" or SPCII/DMR chamber, and nice to use the superior 3 or 5 groove 1/11 or 1/12 barrel twists--the Remington SAAMI spec chamber is too tight (like a .223 chamber) and the 1/10 6 groove barrels needlessly increase pressures and reduce velocity.

i just blew my load on a lwrc 6.8 m6a2 srt in 14.5 w/ perm/atach flash hider. 1800$ worth. imo, if your gonna spend, spend it on something nice or dont spend at all. that being said, lwrc, lmt, and barrett are at the top of the list. stag and few others below, but still good for the poor boy special.
