I’m looking to match a retroish upper to a grayish lower. Does anyone make these?

The other option is to just go with Krylon Camo.

If you’re interested in refinishing, Moly Resin can be used with specific application techniques and temperatures. I’ve never used Moly Resin in this way but some of the results I’ve seen look very nice.

Fidelis has take off colts at times. His site inventory doesn't update often. It's best to call him. http://fidelisfirearms.com/category/colt-lowers/

Forgot... Nodak recommends buying a receiver in the white and shipping it to US Anodizing for a color match.

My 2nd KAC stripped lower was pretty grayish, but I don’t think that was on purpose.

He sells both new and used Colt receivers and usually notes color variations

Would either of these work?

You could have the uncoated one match to whatever you need.

If you get one of the aero's above here are the Moly Resin Colors that would probably be close to what you want:

GRAYISH-BLACK FLAT – This is a dual color product. Dark gray-black flat color and sheen that matches the most common production colors of the earlier Colt AR-15 (model SP1) and M16A1 from the 1970’s to mid-1980’s. When desired, if the curing temperature and bake time are modified a slight green hue/tint can be produced to replicate the greenish color of old Parkerized U.S. Military rifles resulting from them being stored in Cosmoline.

GRAYISH-BLACK SEMI-GLOSS – This is a dual color product. Dark gray-black but with a slight sheen. Also may be called Gray-Black Satin. This color is also popular in closely matching the older Colt AR-15 (model SP1) and M-16A1 but when a slight amount of gloss sheen is desired. When desired, if the curing temperature and bake time are modified a slight green hue/tint can be produced to replicate the greenish color of old Parkerized U.S. Military rifles resulting from them being stored in Cosmoline.

GRAY FLAT – Gray Flat is one shade lighter than Gray-Black Flat. The older Colt AR-15 and M16 colors varied slightly from one production to another. Gray Flat is a slightly lighter variation. Gray Flat examples can also be seen in some WWI and WWII firearms.

Moley Resin is easy to apply - no mixing involved, all you need is an airbrush - you can run it off a compressed gas bottle - and an oven capable of getting to 300. The stuff doesn't smell up the place, my wife let's me use our kitchen oven - this is a big deal, she almost divorced me when she came home and caught me prepping go-kart tires in the oven. Depending on the texture of the lower you may want to take it to someone to have it media blasted, or if you have a compressor get a 20.00 Harbor Freight media blaster.

Wait... what?? Will this improve your times Euro? Any appreciable accuracy increase when using a "grayish" lower?
