View Full Version : Colt 6920 OEM2
So what do you guys think of the Colt 6920 OEM2....It seems to be a decent deal AT $655, it needs a free float hand guard, buttstock and sights.

Slap a buttstock and a Centurion handguard on it and you've got a Colt Trooper. It's the base gun.

Don't you need to change the barrel nut to use the centurion, or am I mistaken?
For the price, I would 100% much rather have this: https://www.gundeals.com/colt-le6920-magpul-mexico-marked-5-56-nato
Or a $700 LE6920 "Trooper". Not sure I see the value in the OEM2 at the $665 price point -- it's a buyers' market.
I almost purchased the OEM-2 to scratch both the Colt 6920 and free floated rail itch I had. Then, I found out about the Colt 6920 Trooper and decided to go that route. I thought it was a good deal for $724 shipped.

Yeah the barrel nut comes with the Centurion rail.
Any rail that uses a non-standard barrel nut is a mediocre choice for the OEM2 compared to the simple Trooper solution.

Uh, the Centurion rail used on the Trooper uses a "non-standard" barrel nut (at least to my knowledge).

Link doesn't work.

If it is your first Colt I would get the oem1. The world is a better place with reliable iron sights to support the red dot optic that you will eventually use.

Doesn't work either.

Yeah. It worked for me in "Preview" before I posted it but it's showing the same gibberish as the first link. You can go to the home page of the site and there is a link to the rifle that works OK.

That's not what I read here, though the info came neither from Colt nor Centurion.

The only rails that Centurion makes that use a standard (USGI) barrel nut are the C4 Picatinny rails. All their CMR-series of rails, to include the ones on the Colt Trooper, Colt CCU and Colt Enhanced Patrol Rifle use a non-USGI barrel nut.

Would like to know the answer to that question. I just assumed that since it a Centurion rail that it took a different barrel nut than the Colt because all of the Centurion rails of that type do.

Okay, guess I have my answer!

Not if it is a C4, CMR yes you do.
