View Full Version : Stag 15 Retro
Anyone else order one of these? Picked it up before black friday for $608, dropped to $575 on black friday, and now its back up to its normal price of $899. I see its now on grabagun for $742. The rifle seems to be a newer model 4 with a different twist rate. Still haven't received mine yet, but its apparently "awaiting shipment". https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171128/811b2aa897faf98e1f7723152063c7d3.jpg

I would spring for the Colt or BCM 20" a4 clones, the stag is probably fine for a mag here and there though for nostalgia.

I went for it because of the price. Figured at $608 I couldnt go wrong

Love my A4 rifle. I’d just upgrade the BCG when you can.

Sounds like you did well. Stag isn't putting out junk weapons that I'm aware of.

Stags quality seems pretty solid. I'll see when I get it to the range, plan on putting a lotta rounds through

Stag puts out some good quality weapons, nothing wrong with your purchase if you're happy with it. Look it over, make sure the gas key is staked properly. If not, you can fix it on your own.
I have a couple of Stag lower receivers and they are all in spec. good quality lowers. I've also been looking at their 3-gun production rifle, just may be my next purchase. Enjoy that rifle, you did just fine.
Not offering any endorsement or criticism of the *quality* of the rifle in question, but....flattop upper and detachable carry handle? Stag seems to be unclear about what constitutes a "Retro" AR.

I agree. The A4 configuration is far from being retro.

Was previously the "Model 4", the "Stag 15 Retro" is a just a name change, only difference is twist rate and pricing. Definitely far from retro though

We have a few Stag carbine's with the Plus Package. We've also built a few carbine's and rifle's using some of their parts. Never any issues. We run then as hard as everything else.

Sounds like a good deal, I would shoot the hell out of it.
Personally, I would like the removable carry handle because I would probably slap an optic on it.
Congrats on the good deal.

I think it would have been cool with a fixed carry handle, but those seem to be harder to find.

Great buy! I too was not able to resist Stag's recent sales. On Black Friday I ordered a Stag 15 LEO (formerly known as the 2T) with the Samson free-float rails and A2 front sight. Got it for $669.99! Have yet to receive it but I was told 5-7 weeks over the phone. Already got a Hiperfire EDT2 trigger and a 2A Armament T3 compensator waiting for her.

I like that one. Stag has some really solid sales. Black friday the Retro 15 was $575 vs reg price of $899
Took some 4-5 weeks for mine to get in, not sure why it was so backed up

Far from retro, but sounds like a good deal.
Well....Retrowave.
I think its neat. I woulda got one for 575. Not paying 899 unless it is a Colt.
I may just get an A4 upper for an old Armalite lower I have. I feel like I need at least one good honest 20" for irons only.
No rails, no optics. Just good honest rifle shooting.

Thats what I got this for. Something about the classics, just feel like I need to have a few that aren't covered in optics, rails, and attachments.

I would, I really would rather have a fixed carry handle on the Stag, but that just means i'll buy another... with a fixed carry handle lol

Forgot to throw in a pic of the rifle. Happy with it so far, just need to get to the range.
