View Full Version : Rifle Buffer Tube in SBR/Carbine

Pardon my ignorance on this... My experience has solely been with carbine setups.

I grabbed a blemished lower off Aero’s site for the heck of it. It has a rifle tube and buffer installed, which I will remove to build that lower as a pistol, for unrelated reasons. However, I’m thinking about uses for the rifle tube.

Will this run on effectively with a 12.5” SBR? (I’m not particularly interested in purchasing A5 buffers, though.)

Can I pick up an A1 stock and just slide it on?

Thank you

Your SPR should run with a rifle buffer, rifle spring and buffer tube.

An A5 buffer cannot be used in a rifle buffer tube (I may have misunderstood you).

This has been discussed a lot on this forum, try search for more information.

Rifle buffers run nicely and can be modified with extra weights and biasing springs.

An A1 stock would work and Magpul has a fixed stock that is A1 length as well.

Thanks to both of you.

AndyLate, that was my error. I ‘assumed’ that the enhanced receiver extensions used for A5 systems were simply rifle-length buffer tubes designed for adjustable stocks. Thank you for clarifying.
