View Full Version : What trigger guard is best for home defense?

I’m in the process of building a new AR for home defense. It’s a 7.5” Piston driven Pistol with a KAK brace. I think I’ve gotten it all figured out except the trigger guard. I don’t ever shoot my guns so it needs to be right without trying it first. I’m going off the knowledge of M4C to figure it out so I hope you all can help.

I have to make sure that my finger will always find the trigger extremely fast and not ever get caught up because of the trigger guard. Every second counts.

LoL

No trigger guard in that case.

Ur gona half to bild ur own. 3d print it like an AWG or a tavor so ur hole hand goes in and gives you unrestricted access to tha triger.

I think this is the type of threads that many people would rather see than informative ones. Euro posts some interesting threads really worth reading and all the egos come out to destroy them. Too many get run off of this site. I have always enjoyed Euro's post. Oh I vote no trigger guard also.

Im sensing extreme boredom or frustration. Not sure which yet. ;)

But to answer the OP, magpul. Its engineered high strength industrial mil-spec polymer. Its superlight and wont slow you down, its also ergonomic to stay out of the way for when its go-time. Are hole team uses them.

Pro-tip, you can drill holes in it to reduce weight as well. Hit the upper as well while your at it.

Your issue is your barrel, not your trigger guard.

Obviously you need spike's patented "two dicks" trigger guard. Lightening cuts to make it high speed, low drag. Toolless detachment for extreme modular overmatch, one trigger guard for multiple AR's.

The spikes 'two dicks' trigger guard. Because 2 is 1 and 1 is none. *insert epic music playing with 2 guys coming out of the water shooting full auto in slow motion* The last trigger guard you will ever need.

Forego the trigger guard entirely.

In addition to having no trigger guard, have a custom trigger made with an extra long bow to eliminate any chance of missing it.

Plato beat me to it, I was going to recommend no trigger guard as well. If safety is a concern, just don’t leave a round in the chamber. This is kind of a win/win because even though it’s not a 12ga, should you actually need to use it, the sound of running the action should scare off any assailant(s).

Out-****ing-standing post. I can't wait to hear what trigger guard you go with.

So I guess you built your own mega blaster? Since you watched the U tube video on building your own blaster, because hey, anyone can do it, right. It's not a big deal that you broke off the ear. Since you have every reason you need now to not have a trigger guard. Even though you broke it, tell everyone why you didn't need it anyway, with the right grip Joe Fudd at the gun shop won't even know you mangled it.

This one will guide your finger right to proper placement on the trigger, it is OAF: https://www.luth-ar.com/product/trigger-guard-wide-body/

Someone should make a trigger guard with a rail on it to attach this: http://www.thetacsac.com/products/the-tacsac

J. Henry Fitzgerald didn’t need them, neither do you!

Stark bro.. it's the only way to go. Not only that you get to forego the vice grips to get that pesky rear pin in the right place...Broke off the ears? Nobody needs to know bro. Get U some... https://www.starkequipment.com/

Ha, you guys fell for Eurodriver's trick question. He was just testing us.
The real answer to his question is "The trigger guard doesn't matter because no one should ever use an AR for home defense because rifle rounds go through walls and you'll end up shooting your neighbour three houses down. The shotgun is the best HD weapon because you don't have to aim it."

THe Elftmann Tactical Dual Enhancement Trigger is an innovative design. This guy from google images got the memo:

Personally, for me the trigger guard is irrelevant because I went with a GAT trigger crank device to give myself some suppressive fire capabilities. I've been able to save weight on my HD build by omitting a weaponlight on the gun as well, as the GAT will allow me to employ the "reconnaissance by fire" method during a hypothetical home invasion scenario.

If I had to pick a trigger guard though it would be the Spike's, specifically the new "Three Dick" model they are rumored to be unveiling at SHOT this year. This announcement came as a surprise to me, but as I learned in Thailand, sometimes the dick you weren't expecting ends up doing the most for you.

Are we having such a slow day that we need to discuss the best combat trigger guard for home defense?
