I just installed 15 of the C-Products orange followers in some older mags i
have for my range mags. I'm surprised just how close they are to the MagPul
followers in look and function.

Does anyone know if they are actually made by MagPul for C-Products?

If not, MagPul might have a great patent infringement case to pursue...;)

C Products manufactures an anti-tilt follower very similar in both form and function to the patents-pending Magpul "Enhanced Self-Leveling Follower." Although C Products does still offer real Magpul followers upon request, this issue has caused a significant amount of confusion in the marketplace among both dealers and end users. We hope this confusion can be avoided in the future, but if there is anything Magpul can do to further clarify this or any other issue, please don't hesitate to call 1.877.4MAGPUL or email techsupport@magpul.com.

Hopefully this doesn't stir up the hornets nest, but is the CP follower a licensed copy, or...? Any comparison pics available?

The C Products follower is not a licensed copy of the Magpul follower.

My understanding is that they use their own design in their SS mags as the Magpul followers won't work.

The CProducts SS followers don't work in their own aluminum magazines, or vice versa (can't remember which).

This nonsense is just one more reason I can't stand that company.

I wouldn't take Cprod items for free.

You're right.

Unless they've tweaked the design, the followers in the SS mag are a bit oversized and won't work in the aluminum bodies without adjustment. GI and Magpul followers will work in the SS, but have play.

The SS is thinner than aluminum leaving larger internal dims.

Thanks for posting those. To my eye, there is quite a bit of difference between the 2.

I'm no injection molded mag follower engineer, but the C-Products follower looks like a pretty blatant knock-off to me.

Eye of the beholder! :) Sure they have the same basic shape, but just how different can a mag follower be? I can count numerous points of difference between the 2.

ETA: What matters most to me is which one works the best.

The MagPul works, it was first, and it is cheap, so I ain't changing it.

Like I said my eye isn't refined enough to be able to distinguish much if any significant difference between the two. If you compare the Magpul to the original USGI follower it replaced their is a pretty distinct difference.

It's not like we are comparing a Chevy Tahoe and a Ford Expedition and saying "How much difference can their be between two fullsize american SUV's?" This is more like looking at a Chevy Tahoe and a GMC Yukon.

But between the Magpul and C-Products, it looks to me as if C-Product took a look at the Magpul follower they had been offering in their own mags, and said, " I wonder if we can set up tooling to make almost the exact same thing, but since they've done all the design and testing work, it won't cost us near as much?"

Not saying that's the case, just saying that's what it looks like to this unedumicated bumpkin's eye....

Bingo. There are no substantive differences between the two. There are minor cosmetic or moulding differences but the shape and form and everything is exactly the same. Even the color is the same as the MP Gen 2 safety ones. (They could have at least chosen pink or blue or purple to avoid confusion).
