But the question is, where do all the cool guys purchase their compact mag buttplates?

I want to be cool too.

From S&W. They're about 71 cents a piece.

I'm using the flat compact floorplates on all of my mags except for the ones sporting Arredondo extensions (22rd).

And I'm definitely cool. Just look at this smiley -->

Can someone please post a photo of the a flat compact floorplate, or better yet, one next to a fullsize floorplate?

Thanks :D

If your life depends on what you carry, use OEM stock mags. If they are for you play guns - try anything you want - you will only lose a few points - not you life if things don't work.

Thanks got4m - got them on the way from S&W.

Paul45 -- While I appreciate your thought process, there is absolutely no reason to fear the flat compact floorplates on a duty/carry gun. There is no mechanical difference except for the amount of excess plastic hanging off the front, but it makes for a better grip on the mag during reloads and many people prefer the feel.

I've discussed this directly with S&W. They don't have any problem with it or recommendation against it.

Jay- I'll fill you in on what Todd said when I felt stupid enough to finally ask

Todd pointed out that since the floorplates are smaller and do not stick out so far, it's easier to deal with them in certain mag pouches where the normal floorplates will extend over or into the ma in "front" and could possibly catch.

I've noticed this annoyance when dealing with my 6o4 mag pouch and now that I'm looking at the mags side by side, I'm definitely on board with this concept.

I don't even own an M&P, but I've always wanted to be cool. Should I order some and keep them in a box?

I don't want to miss out on cool.

LOL!!!

When I carry I carry one reload. When I train or practice I carry two in two separate pouches. The length of the floorplate is a non-issue to me.

I asked The Magic 8 ball at http://www.tridelphia.net/ and the reply was "Signs Point to Yes"

ordered 10, just to be cool. thanks for the info, gotm4.
i didn't like the fullsize floorplates - they really got in the way in mag pouches. looking forward to switching out to the compacts.
