I have just a quick question, I am wanting to replace my BCM KMR-A rail with their MCMR rail. Would I need to use a heat gun to remove the KMR rail like I would to install it? Thanks.

Yes, you could probably muscle it, but you'll prevent scratching it up if you use heat.

Thanks I’ll just pick up a cheap hair dryer then.

I removed a KMR-A by heating it with a hairdryer. I think BCM instructions say don’t use heat gun as that will be too hot.

I attach a vertical grip to the top rail and lightly tap it with a mallet. Works to remove or install.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking I’ll just use a hairdryer.

I attach a vertical grip to the top rail and lightly tap it with a mallet. Works to remove or install. That’s a good idea I will have to try that.

Never thought of that. I like it.

My rail sticks out a little on either side of my upper. I use a 6" (or so) piece of 1/2 or 3/4" PVC and tap it off with a hammer alternating from side to side. This also helps with install too.
