There is no verifiable way to eliminate nuclear weapons. Nuclear warheads are small enough to fit in a car trunk or backpack. There are too many places where something that small can be hidden. Even an ICBM is only about 60 feet long and can be hidden in a tractor trailer rig. It is impossible to check every place where something that size could be hidden in a country the size of the US, Russia, China, etc. A few hidden missiles or warheads is not that big of a deal when each country has hundreds or thousands of warheads. But it would be a huge deal if every country eliminated all of them. Because the country that secretly hid a few warheads would have a decisive advantage. Thus I don't see the world ever eliminating nukes.

Also, imagine the huge advantage of a country developing nuclear weapons in a would that did not have any. Would you want to see Iran develop nuclear weapons in a nuclear free world?

This whole eliminate nuclear weapons thing depends on universal values and beliefs which do not exist in reality.
