A friend of mine just purchased his first AR rifle, a Colt OEM-2.

It's roll marked "Piston Carbine." Anyone else seen this roll mark?

I though the OEM had the LE6920 roll mark?

Mine was marked “M4 Carbine” with a LExxxxx serial number.

Is the model no LE6940P?

Arms Unlimited is selling Colt Lowers marked Piston Carbine. Sounds like they are just using up spares that they have around.

MY impression is that Colt is using up parts they have on hand in an effort to generate revenue. I personally would not have an issue with it at all. I don't view a 6920 as a collectors item. To me, it's the, "work truck" of the AR world.

I would tell the friend who bought the gun with the piston marked lower to, "lube it, load it and shoot it..."

oh agreed! he doeskin care about the roll mark, we just found it interesting when the transferring FFL pulled it out and said "is doesn't look like a piston gun." and it is an Arms Unlimited gun
