"R" stamp on barrel

Just picked up a new 6920 and on top of the barrel near the delta ring it has an R stamped on it. I've seen W's and heard they were Wilson blanks but no R's. Anyone have any information or have one with an R stamp. It was a NIB Colt and it has the correct cage code on it.

I am sure it is fine. Colt gets barrels from a number of manufacturers. That is not to say that all that make it to Hartford graduate with a CAGE code, though. "R" could be Rock Creek. Colt barrels are button rifled. I don't recall if RC cuts or buttons.
