I have been informed that the photo and file sharing service I have been using is going to cease functioning at the end of the month. Does anyone have a recommendation on a good location to store the photos and files I use for online posts? A free service would be ideal. Thanks for any help.

I hope it's not photobucket Doc, but it is free. http://register.photobucket.com/

another vote for photobucket. I believe it's imageshack that is changing its TOS.

+1 on Photobucket. Free, always works, easy to use.

As an aside, for someone who wants actual control over his photos, it's fairly easy and inexpensive to get your own domain and host your own stuff ...

I use http://www.villagephotos.com/ I've had an account there for a couple years now, never had any problems. They have a free account available, though the file sizes and resolutions you can store are limited on that one. I think the next step up from the free account is only like $3 a month and gives you plenty of storage space and hosting options for the money I think.

For run-of-the-mill storage/short term sharing you can use something like Rapidshare or Megaupload for file hosting.

Check with your ISP (Internet Service Provider). I have Comcast and 10GB of space is provided with my service to use for pictures, web serving, etc.

It's nice because I don't have to worry about the pictures expiring after a month.

Take a look at Windows Office Live small business and workspace.

http://www.officelive.com/

With office live small business you also get a free domain name.
