I just used this for the first time on a new build, gonna build another next week. How does everyone avoid marring up the bev block? I definitely put some vice prints in mine, would prefer to avoid that in the future.

use some pieces of 2" x 2" x 1/8" aluminum angle. Home Depot.

I don’t worry about it

Assume your talking about vice jaw marks, it doesn’t really effect anything you are assembling, so why sweat it?

Thick piece of leather works when I want to protect something in vise.

I have some soft-jaw inserts for my vice. Seem to work well for me.

The only way to not mark up your tools is by not using them.

BTW you're in the wrong forum.

It was between custom build and technical... Since this is the custom build forum might as well list what I built and will show off pics later.

Top notch if it runs, it’s sort of an experiment.
Obviously a significant change from “mil-spec”. I’m building 2 identical rifles, with the goal of shooting the snot out of it with as minimal preventative maintenance as possible on one and keeping round count low on the 2nd for my HD/SHTF rifle. I picked parts that I believed to be a true upgrade or high quality, not to go all Gucci.
