A lot of brothas & sistas at that event. Wonder what the Queen Mum was thinking to herself. Ha!

There was a meme using that photo that said something to the effect; "The moment you realize you already faked a car accident and have to think of something else." Can't find it now but there is some great meme majik happening in the wake of this royal wedding.

Lady Di was my 6th cousin on my dad's side. I didn't get an invitation so screw 'em!

I refuse to follow anything related to the "royals" because their riches is just money stolen from the people over hundreds of years. I did, however, read an article on a gun blog that showed all the weaponry of the security teams at the wedding. M4s, MP5s, scoped rifles abounded everywhere. My first thought was "why? their population is essentially unarmed and can't even carry a pocket knife". Oh wait, to protect them from armed terrorists and criminals. But wait, are they saying that terrorists and criminals do not follow the stringent gun control laws? I had to stop thinking too much as I was giving myself a headache. I was overcome by reason and logic.

QFT. I was starting to think I was the only one getting sick and tired of the Anglofellation, which even my mother went Full Drooling Retard over. "You know, I think we've found the only people more in love with the sound of their own voices than Obama..." Even my girlfriend, who's a frickin' "subject of the Crown" as a Canadian citizen, doesn't carry on about it as much as the Squeeing Fangirls down here... I swear, if my eyes could roll any farther back into my head I'd be staring into my own optic nerves.

Some of the memes are hilarious. And I'm a Brit.

Personally, I think Harry's a good lad. Two-tour vet of Afghanistan as a JTAC.

He got a thumbs up from me when I saw this:

That is one thing you have to give the royal family, they serve their country in a military sense. Being a child of the 80’s, the Falklands and Prince Andrew comes to mind.

IIRC Prince Harry had a bounty on his head by Al-Qaeda while in theater.

I agree - it's not Harry or William's fault that they were born into privilege; but they've seemed to make good efforts to follow in the footsteps of their mother and serve the country.

I was stationed in the UK when Lady Di/Prince Charles got married. Didn't really care about that one either.

I told one of my shooting buddies I was going to have to cancel on the Sat. 3gun because I was going to watch the wedding...wanted to see who was wearing what. He called me a fag. My feelings were hurt. The whole episode was so un-PC.

I don't refuse to follow them, I just don't bother. They are one of a hundred stories every day that are totally irrelevant to anything that goes on in the USA, or even the rest of the world. In fact, they're pretty much irrelevant even to the UK. I understand the monarchy as a historical figurehead. I certainly don't understand the fascination that so many Americans have for it. IIRC, we fought a war at one point in US history to throw off their influence in America.

Harry...I can admire. My impression is that he would be more comfortable in the cockpit of an Apache helicopter flying over Afghanistan than home with his feet up at Windsor Castle.

I really don't get the obsession. Or even the slightest interest.

Live action theater.

We think we are superior because we have a representative government, but at least the Brits get a "show" every now and then from the usurpers. I wouldn't want to have to fund the pageantry of a Clinton or Obama wedding, but they are taking the money from us anyway, might as well make the monkeys dance for us ever decade or so.

I personally think every member of Congress should be forced to do a season of Shakespeare in the Park at public venues in every state. Imagine Pelosi as Gertrude in Hamlet, it would be worth watching.

I would have sent the Continental Army reenactors.

The obsession I can't understand. The interest? Well, that's more understandable. Every morning and evening, we're greeted with news of school shootings, rapes, wildfires, floods, epidemics, riots, terrorist attacks, political corruption, and just general misery. So it's nice to take a break and see something a little more heartwarming. I don't really care. My distraction from this world's agony is usually watching or playing sports, shooting, working out, video games, or binge watching some show on Netflix. But I can understand those who want to watch a wedding.
