For those of you who have rode into DC with Rolling Thunder in the last 17 years, you probably saluted the Saluting Marine. Just heard on the news he is retiring from his post during Rolling Thunder. Along with my grandchildren we will certainly miss saluting him.

In a gesture of respect for all service members past and present, Staff Sgt. TIm Chambers (Ret.) has held a 4 hour salute for the duration of the Rolling Thunder demonstration in Washington, D.C. for the last 15 years. This year was unique in that he was joined by his wife. They held their wedding ceremony on the very curb he salutes from the day of Rolling Thunder.

AMEN to that.

Some of those years, he was there for 5 & 6 hours. He did make it to 17 years, just amazing and what a dedication.
