I really find it difficult to abandon the traditional FSB; are the Knight's sights the best alternative to a FSB?

Need more info.
Performance wise, id say an rds/optic is best, with irons backing up the optic.
If talking only itons, do you want folding or non-folding?
Assuming you want folding sights, i do like the KAC 300m rear as its very low profile. No experience with the front.

Lastly, if you dont want to abandon a fsb, then why are you? Are you running a magnified optic or just trying out something new?

KAC and LMT are both great. I have both and like them both. LMT are a bit more versatile because they have a dual aperture rear sight.

I rarely (but on some occasions) use them since they are a backup configuration for a red dot sight.

Your post lacks detail. Best for what? Magpul sights also work very well. Considering they are "back ups" and not primary sights.

There is no shortage of great sights out there. What do you want?

You have 4 options:
Folding
Fixed
Offset fixed
Offset folding

Do you have a specific question?
Do you have an optic on the colt? What are the guns used for? Will you use the irons regularly?
There are a lot of good options out there and what you want will dictate what to buy.

I bought Knights BUIS (familiar) for Colt 6920. I would like recommendation for a folding set (not offset) for DD M4 V 11; will serve as back up.

For a back up set the regular mbus would be good enough. I prefer the pros. Also really like the Troy sites

KAC makes great sights, if you have one you already use, you might as well stick with them.

I have had Troy, Magpul Pro, KAC and LMT sights. Personally, I like the KAC M4 front sight and the 600m micro rear sight. LMT are nice but expensive. I started a thread about BUIS sights and from what I can tell is 50% use them and 50% don't. As for me, I have them, but I shoot with my eyes closed.

Does Knights make the best BUIS? Yes.
