Unfortunate looking shooting in Portland Oregon.

Two or more gentlemen accused of some racial slurs find themselves pretty aggressively confronted. Video from the scene shows the men attempting to leave, while participating in at least mutual combat. City and University police arrive on scene as scuffling continued. One of the men being assaulted appears to be knocked to the ground and a University police officer shoots him several times, reportedly after someone shouts “gun”.

My general take is judgment juice and concealed carry do not mix, but that is from circumstances on the video. What I did note is (1) the university police department was recently armed and (2) this tragically ironic story describing the recent hire of a university police chief with this stellar quote

“Tanksley said having a gun is just one of the tools officers have at their disposal. Communication is another. "That trust isn't going to be built overnight, but it's a continued relationship and you have to be willing to listen and be transparent," he said. "And if you're wrong, you have to say you're wrong."

looks like the guy had it hanging out of his pocket, I wonder if he had drawn it and stuffed it in his pocket when the cops showed up. Doesn't seem smart getting into any kind of altercation or trying to stop one when wearing a gun. He should have walked away and let his buddy get his ass kicked.
