Came across these and saw they are allegedly a limited production run. Meets the heavy barrel requirement here in my state and seems to be a nice lightweight colt AR with some interesting characteristics.

14.5” barrel with pinned and welded muzzle brake to make it about 16.2”

Heavy barrel but has the m4 profile/launcher cutouts

M4 Carbine stamped lower

Supposedly a run of 300 produced

Apparently weighs a hair under 6lbs

Apparently the first time Colt has sold a complete factory rifle with this orientation

Anyone else have one? I just impulse ordered one from a LGS after I saw some of the details.

interesting - your state has a requirement for heavy barrel? How do they set the minimum thickness?

“Advertised or marketed as a heavy barrel” is what the state police said. So there isn’t an actualy measurement or weight.

Could be a pencil barrel manufactured by a company, stamped hbar and sold as a hbar and it’d be good to go.

Talk about retarded.

oh, but here is the funny part.

AR10’s are not regulated, idiot lawmakers complete forgot about the AR15’s bigger more deadly brother, the AR10. AR10 can have any type of barrel. Matter of fact only the AR15’s (chambered in .223/5.56) have this requirement. Other calibers are not regulated like this.

AK47 rifles cannot be purchased but AK74’s are fine. AK47 pistols are fine too.

Someone posted photos of the most recent 2018 release in the LE6920HBPW thread that’s a little ways down the first page here, but the photos have since been removed. This latest release is actually marked “PROPERTY OF U.S. GOVT” and M4A1, just like the real thing. Looks great, but someone mentioned that only 250 are being produced. Grant had some but sold out in a day.

Oh is it? I can barely find any info on them. Glad I snagged up a slot. Hopefully stamped M4A1/us govt property. i’d be pretty happy with that

Dealer local to me still lists these in stock, double check and give him a call or email prior to order

Does this have an HBAR or the SOCOM barrel?

SOCOM barrel.

Looked damn good.

.... but if Colt calls it HBAR it’s an HBAR for all intents of the law...

FYI: SOCOM profile is not HBAR, therefore not legal in MD

Yup, nothing to do with actual weight

Scroll down to Colt, all very confusing:

EDIT: Been notified MD FFL has them for sale - http://www.jlowesguns.com/COLT-6920-Model-LE6920HBPW-HBAR_p_792.html

If that is the case, as I said all very confusing.

MDSP Licensing Division has final authority on banned vs non-banned. If you scroll down to the "Colt" heading The LE6920 SOCOM is banned.

Cut and pasted:

Colt AR-15 model LE6920 SOCOM Banned

They just want HB in the name.

Dumb shits.

LE6920HBPW is not LE6920 SOCOM

Its literally in the product name “Heavy Barrel” is what HB stands for. It’s MD legal till they say otherwise

https://www.colt.com/detail-page/m4-carbine-145-heavy-barrel-pinned

Colt’s site doesn’t list MD as restricted to buy this, neither did my FFL....

There is a thread on Arfcom in the Colt subforum detailing the HBPW.

I think he’s right. The govt property one is listed as socom and has the kac rail with matech sights. And pretty much sold out.

Any place that’s had this hbpw has been m4 carbine marked.

Yeah I think some people also confused the two rifles as well. Every listing i’ve seen along with the photos has supported that LE6920 SOCOM is marked “M4A1 Gov Prop” and LE6920HBPW is marked “M4 Carbine”. My FFL confirmed the LE6920HBPW rifles he has from colt this year are marked “M4 Carbine”

Colts website confirms the LE6920 SOCOM comes with the M4A1 and gov property roll marks.

My new LE6920HBPW is marked “M4 Carbine”, box says “M4 Carbine” “2013 Config”
