Ankle mounted cantilever shin guard and knee pad set...

I hope someone can help me.

Many years ago in popular mechanics or popular science in the new tech or gadget section they had a design for a set of integrated shin protector and knee pad (like medieval armor greaves or some such thing) that mounted around the ankle and then cantilevered up over the shin and knee so there was no or only one strap above the ankle to deal with.

The thing I despise about knee pads is the bunching up, pinching, and sweating. If there was a design like described above it would be so much more comfortable, plus proved shin protection as well.

I have looked and googled and binged and I got nothing.

Look into dirtbike or mountain bike shin guards. There may even be some geared toward paintball products. Not having a top strap may be difficult to find but one with a minimul top strap may be optional. The ones I found were for mountain biking and used them on hot days playing paintball so I could wear shorts and protect my legs. They were a pain so I went with a dedicated set of padded pants.
