Here is a db, weight & MSRP comparison of 27 .30 cal suppressors shooting both .308 and .223.

I don't know squat about suppressors (or much of NFA in general really), but I've been considering dropping the coin and take the time to get an a suppressed SBR or two, so this is pretty timely. I'm sure there is a lot more to a can than just db reduction levels & weight like live span, mounting type, etc but it seems like a good starting place.

Well that is gonna cause a lot of butthurt.

If their test lab was outdoors, it doesn't really matter what equipment they used.

That said, their results seem to be as expected with the suppressors I'm familiar with.

Bolt guns only? Shame they didn't also get AR numbers.

True, some cans are engineered for autos and would post better port noise than some of the cans that metered lower on a bolt. It also surprises me that very few cans are actually ‘hearing safe’ if you use the 140db threshold. Once again DB levels shouldn’t be the main factor when purchasing a centerfire suppressor, mount system and poi shift to me are more important.

Im so not impressed with any suppressor test and I find the decibal rating insignificant, but whatever it takes. Mounts and weight and C/S all that other mean so much more to me. YMMV

Agreed, it seems like testing is never a level playing ground, and in this case bolt actions are being tested instead of the much more popular AR15/ AR10 variants.

Decibal ratings area almost always very close to each other, and it doesn't seem cans have evolved much over the last decade or two. Maybe can research has hit a plateau , I'm not really sure, but when the sound barrier looms over the head of shooters, it is hard to think it will get better any time soon.

I have never purchased a suppressor based off dB rating. Like others have stated there are other driving factors that lead me to one over another. I would be more interested in testing with multiple hosts gas and bolt guns including 300 win mag. Some cans are designed for different things even though they are still 30 caliber cans. Interisting data but a waste in my book.

With today's technology there is no excuse not to get 30+dB reduction in a silencer of typical size/length, while still checking off all the other boxes. Tests like these help people avoid the ones that cannot.

As for "Largest Ever", it was not even the largest in July 2018. LOL.

The Sig numbers look a little disappointing. I have a QD SS model on the way.

worry not about the DB ratings. I have so many cans its stupid. And the DB game non sense. Its a very small part of the story. If you have a 12 inch 30 can it will be better than a 6 inch 30 cal can. But weigh more ....

Its all about compromise. I have 6 Sig Cans, they are great.
