Crown question

I have an ak and an ar that both have pinned muzzle devices to make them 16" OAL. Is it necessary to clean the crown? I cant imagine how you would clean the crown of a pinned rifle.

Not necessary. I don't clean any crowns even on my bolt gun that gets shot suppressed and is pretty crusty around the crown.

Okay sweet. I just didnt know if it was necessary for an ak because the crowns get dirtier quicker. If it doesn't create an issue then I wont worry about it.

You're WAY more likely to damage the crown then to do anything beneficial.
