Odds are the story is legit, but the last line makes me wonder. Almost like she wanted to be caught on video so that she had a great alibi.

Wouldn’t you be screaming your head off and running in a straight line at high speed?

Could it be possible that BF realised he might be in some trouble when she got away and killed himself before she returned home. She returns home and finds him, panics and splits.

Notice story doesn't give time frame of ex-wife receiving texts and then heading to hubbies house.

Or, GF stages BF's suicide, uses phone to text ex-wife, etc.
