View Full Version : Glock 19, gen 5 chamber diamentions
Has anyone with a stock, gen 5 model 19, noticed the chamber is possibly too tight? Just a little background, I have been using the same Redding 9mm dies for a long time (around 8,000 rds at least). My gen 2 G19, VP9, and CZ P10C has shot the reloads with great success. On my family members gen5 G19, the brass is extremely difficult to remove from the chamber and causes stoppages. A brand new S T action pro dummy round had the same result today. I'm just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue.

Gen 5 does have a shorter chamber but I haven’t had any stuck brass. Did have to seat a deeper OAL though
I’m using RCBS dies and a Redding micrometer seating die fwiw

Thanks for the reply.

There was a threat about this a while ago. Brass cased/plastic dummy rounds we're getting stuck in the Gen 5 guns. Chambers do seem to be cut shorter than Gen 3, 4

I have not had issues with reloads in my G34/5
May be a random dud. A buddy got a 2000-2005 Glock 26 that I am reasonably sure was short chambered...would frequently stop just short of locking up.
Tried it with different magazines and at least 1/2 dozen different brass case ball and jhp loads that were reliable in my G19 and other 9mm pistols we had at the time.
He sent it back to Glock and they allegedly ran 50 rds of CCI Blazer through it without a hitch. Got it back and same deal with random failures to fully lock up.
Appears to be a "feature" of the Marksman Barrel.
Thanks for all the reply's. I will look more closely this week. I'll post back here if I discover anything.

I thought the Marksmen barrels were a little tighter than Gen 3/4 barrels?

Yup, including the chamber as noted in post #4.
Well, I made it back to the range to spend more time with the gen 5 model 19. My son also came with his 1911. I don't own a 1911 and after shooting it I got distracted and forgot about looking at the Glock 19. I'm sure most of you will understand the delay. I'll try again asap.

We made it back to the range on Monday. While shooting factory CCI 115 gr. fmj's we experienced one failure to fully chamber. This is the same problem as before but with my reloads. After a couple of deliberate palm slaps the slide went home. That particular round shot fine. I should have ejrcted the round for inspection. I have shot close to 1500 rds of this ammo without any issues with my CZ.
I went back and compared some of my spent cases of my reloads that had chambering problems with the just shot new manufactured cases. Both groups were all well within spec for case length according to my Sierra reloading manual. No other visual defects were observed. We will be back out at the range today. This time if there is anymore chambering issues I will immediately eject the round to measure the diamentions. It's still a good shooting gun but I think the chamber needs to be reamed a little bigger.

SAAMI spec is a barrel feature. Not all ammo meets SAAMI spec however.
