New, bizarre description of "assault rifle" - “any rifle which utilizes a portion of the energy of a firing cartridge to extract the fired cartridge case and chamber the next round, and which requires a separate pull of the trigger to fire each cartridge,”
Ex post facto ban on persons under 21 possessing semiauto rifles, even ones they already own
new $25 starting (and open-ended, sure to go up fast) fee on ANY transfer, even non-sales
mandatory reporting of personal info on transfers potentially creates backdoor registry
new mandatory training and "safe storage" requirements

It’s a bunch of bull, ive been talking to anyone about it. If this passes a 10/22 or Marlin Model 60 will now be a “assault rifle”.

Anybody heard anything about if anybody in the industry like Aero, Rainier Arms, etc is helping fight this? Seems they have the most to lose, but most of the real effort I've seen put in other than NRA seems to be Sporting Systems out of Vancouver, though a few little hole-in-the-wall places I've seen have signs up.

In the Spokane area I’m seeing mostly anti stuff put out by the NRA or even Sporting Systems of Vancouver, who was nice enough to send me a stack of flyers. The anti stuff seems to be all over my FB and I’m sharing as much as I can but with how FB works I’m sure there are plenty of my “friends” that are not seeing it. Hell I only seem to see a small fraction of my “friends” stuff anyways.

Since this thing has passed and will soon be law, does anyone know what date it will actually go into effect? I am trying to get an AR transferred to my daughter before it does, but she doesn’t get back from school in Alabama until December 8th.

From what I gather Dec 31 the age limit starts, July 1 2019 everything else starts.

A couple of things, stripped lowers don't seem to be part of 1639. So I guess buy away. Second, out of state purchases aren't changed. So us down south on the border have it easy, just go to Oregon, skip sales tax and no I-1639 worries. I keep hearing weird things about pistols, however pistols were not included anywhere I could find in 1639. I do know that due to NICS telling the state to **** off Washington FFLs can no longer use NICS for pistol checks if you have a CPL so no more cash and carry for pistols after July 1, 2019.

Following the passage of gun control legislation I-1639, which created new requirements for safe gun storage and age limits for assault-style rifle purchases, the Alliance for Gun Responsibility is hoping to expand on its success in the coming year. The advocacy group’s 2019 legislative agenda includes limiting open carry, restricting access to high-capacity magazines, and expanding Extreme Risk Protection Orders to include “hate-based threats.”
