View Full Version : Cases for an M4 with optics.
I'd like to get a case for my M4 that will let me keep my M4S attached. What cases are most people transporting their M4's in?
I use the Eagle Industries Discrete Carry case for my SBR with Comp ML3 attached. Works perfectly.

What Kevin said.
I'm a fan of the Hardigg Storm cases too.
Thanks much. Pelican order placed today.
For a shorter rig I like the Starlight 38" case. I have both Pelican and the Starlight but prefer the Starlight of the two.
Just wish they offered a length between the 38" and 52". Pelican fills that gap though

dad-gum them cases are high as hell. I didn't realize they cost that much. I guess they are worth it, but I gotta stay with the soft ones for now

I too use Starlight cases - I have a 38" and a 52", and find them better than pelicans - I like the locking mech. better on the Starlight. They also both have wheel kits installed.
The 38" one would be perfect for your 14.5"
I found a place up here (Canada) where I got both for just over $200 each, shipped to my door. Not bad...

This item is the MIL version of the Storm case. The search will bring you to a general listing for M16/M4 with various options. The one I'm planning on purchasing is for a single M4/SOPMOD/M9. Price is 225.71 (suggested retail 417.90). It is a special order item and will take about 2~3 weeks, but the next best price I found was almost $100 more.

I use the 38" Starlight for my SR15 Match but keep the upper and lower separate and like mentioned it would be great for a 14.5" or SBR. The Pelican 1720 is for a 20" A2 build.
Also I have used the 52" Starlight before for my 40X but man they just seem to be so long and tough to take in the car unless you can fold down the seats  or have a truck. Otherwise a great quality case.
When I bought them I purchased directly from Brock at Starlight as now and then they have like a scratch & dent selection and over-runs. He advertises over at snipercountry occasionally. I didn't mind getting one with marks as it's only going to see wear & tear anyway.

Agreed - especially with the wheel kit installed - the thing is honkin big!
On the plus side, I always drive a truck, and I can fit my Precision rig (Tikka T3 Varmint .223 or Rem 700VS in .308) along with TWO full size shotguns in the second layer. Makes it a tad heavy, but very safe for transport. I'd have ZERO issues travelling with it on a plane in a starlight case.

Here is what I used to use. It's an i-Shot SERT case:

Depends where, how far, and method of travel.
Long distance road or plane- Pelican or similar style.
20 miles or so- Eagle 3223- or similar.
For trips to the range a decent soft case will do. There are some good ones at good prices at cheaperthandirt.com.
