Worked for the same construction company for 7 years recently went freelance/independent contractor.

Company owner and me still on good terms, he's actually giving me advice on LLC etc send me, contact for smaller jobs.

I've been on a high end custom home for about a month. & was in need of some specialized tools and shop time, He owns a really nice cabinet shop with all the toys, Festool, Felder, Laguna plus all kinds of Bosch & Stabilia portable items.

I've offer to pay rental shop time, But he doesn't care and simply lets me use whatever i need as long as it doesn't negatively effect his operations.

So over a BS session he expressed interest in buying a revolver.

As it happens I have a S&W Model 28-2 Serial N201xxx that I never shoot.

So I'm thinking of just giving it to him, Thoughts from the Forum?

That's a stand-up thing to do.

I'd say give him the revolver. Sounds like he's been a good friend and helpful. If your in a position to return the favor then go for it.

Agree, the cost of the revolver is small compared to the benefits you reap.

Agreed. It sounds like a great way to show him how much you appreciate all the help he's so freely given.

Don't know if he is new to guns or revolvers, but some range time with him would be nice too.

Hell throw in a 1000 rounds of premium defense ammo while your at it...or just give him the gun. I'm sure he would appreciate it.

No way, sell it to me for $100 then buy him a case of beer.

$100 for that old gun? The cylinder is too short for heavy bullets and S&W doesn't even have parts for them anymore...

Seriously, that is a nice gift.

I agree with everyone else. If your friend isn't prohibited, then definitely gift him the revolver. Sounds like he's been good to you over the years, so it'd be a very nice gesture of appreciation.

Do it. Throw in some Winchester 145-grain .357 Magnum Silvertips. They killed like the plague for Texas DPS and the Dallas Police Department with the Model 28. Some modern .357 Gold Dots and Federal GMM wadcutters would be nice as well.

Thanks for all the support , I’m picking up a mixture of 38 & 357 ammo to give him as well.

Good call. Being able to use .38s at the range makes .357s so versatile. A few of my Dad's friends thought he was nuts to give me a .357 magnum when I was 10 years old, but I never outgrew that Security Six.

So I gave him the Pistol, A case of 38 special(for plinking) and a bit of assorted 357 mag. cartridges, from Bear Loads, Target and SelfDefense Jacket Hollow Point. Kinda thought He'd have more Fun plinking with 38 as full power 357 are quite brutal, (or I'm just a wimp)

A mentor, like your prior employer, is a rarity these days.
I would highly value that relationship.

Yes, let him have the m28.
