Any feedback on this particular system? Thanks.

no complaints. just another rail that provides more rail than a carbine rail does. I find standard carbine rails a bit lacking on real estate for mounting a light. the rail also provides some protection to the front sight base (i used to have it mounted on a rifle with a clamp-on PRI folding front sight before i moved it to this one below) and keeps it and part of a hot barrel from contacting you.
got any specific questions?

the DD Lite 12.0 FSP is another option giving you similar features.

Thanks for the pic and the feedback. I was wanting to keep my FSB while giving me better mounting options for lights. Sounds like you had the same idea. Sturdy and good quality? Recommend it?

It doesn't do anything that the Daniel Defense copy doesn't do better.

Hands down my favorite rail system.

I just located another one and G&R is building it on a LMT upper right now. I've always liked that you could mount your light farther forward. Not to mention mount an X200 forward of the FSB, but I've personally never tried that technique. I like my Surefire 6P & Vltor mount set-up well enough to not mess with it.

Yet another great picture from the man with all the toys! I really like that one. :)

thanks stick.
ZDL - i don't think you can go wrong with either choice - the KAC MRE or DD equivalent. they're both good quality products and will be sturdy when properly installed.
the DD lite rail might be lighter, though. a couple of small differences to point out - the front rail portion of the MRE is removable and can be flipped over to give you a lower rail on top, if you want to mount an X300 in front of the FSB. the screws that secure the front portion to the main rail, however, prevent those slots from being used. just FYI.

i believe the KAC MRE was the first extended rail for the M4 - i've had that one since 2003, so they're been around for a while.

The DD has the bayonet lug covered and the KAC does not. Is this correct?

yes, the DD rail is uninterrupted at the bottom, so it has more usable rail space. i actually prefer that feature.
