Any bolt action 7.62x54 that is NOT a Nagant?

I sure can't find one!

Why doesn't Ruger make the American in 7.62x54? The rotary mag would work well with the rimmed cartridge.

Might be because Ruger is in the business of making money and that would be a loser.

No point. Commercial ammo is not cheap for basic ammo. Equal price 308 would be better quality ammo. Surplus ammo, besides being corrosive and inconsistent, is gone and what's left is expensive

Find yourself a M39 Fin nagant and enjoy 7.62x54.

May I suggest the Dragunov? ;) (Albeit not Bolt Action, they are some sexy beasts)

ETA: I would also love a classic Lever Action Russion M1895. That would be an amazing piece of history to possess.

Gotta admit, the Cuban "Alejandro Sniper Rifle" looks pretty damn good for also being a 7.62x54r

Or the also, I am sure VERY expensive, SV-98:

And, while not Bolt, a Mag Fed SVT-40 would be too much fun:

Ultimately, at the end of the day though, Arik is right.

Buy a nice .308.

I own a 1943 Manufactured by Russian Izhevsk Factory. Matching Numbers on the Parts, clean Solid Bore; I shoot it a few times a year.

But, it will never get as much use as my other bolts due to ammo availability and cost. Plus, hitting your bore with Windex everytime you're done using corrosive is a pain in the ass.

Was thinking there was a Mauser variant in 7.62x54R, but apparently my memory was going the opposite direction.

Rifle labeled as the "American" chambered in a Russian cartridge?

Let's sit and think about that one for a few minutes...

Ruger beat you to it ... as they sell their American ‘ranch rifle’ chambered in the Russian 7.62x39mm (ala AK47) cartridge.

I would expect that Sako or Tikka would have something offered in 54R. The Finnish seemed to think it to be more accurate than .308.
