Winchester M 94 .30-30 - early 1980s
Marlin 336 RC 30-30 (Texan) - 1964
Marlin 336 C 30-30 - 1971
Marlin 1894 C .357 - 1981
Marlin 1895 GS .45-70 Govt - mid 1990s
Rossi M 92 .357

The Winchester was a Christmas present from my Dad. My first firearm.

The 336 C is my only scoped lever action and will put 3 rounds inside an inch and a half all day long at 100 yards.

The .45-70 is a thumper, of course, and makes me smile every time I pick it up.

Winchester M95 .30-06....

There was a Browning M95 in 30.06 with a receiver sight in a local gun shop years ago. I decided $600 was too high for a used gun and have been regretting it since.

I keep coming close on a 45-70. Either one of those spruced up guide guns with synthetic stock SS.. or the 20 inch with laminate stock.

CDNN has the guide set up. Demo units I think for a good deal. I sat one in the basket a couple times but never pulled the trigger.

Ended up with a Marlin 336 in 30-30 I got from a friend. Made a couple of additions.

Loaded 150gr Berry’s RNFP with 8.5gr of Trailboss for about 1150fps. Minimal recoil and load of fun to shoot.

Over the years, had a couple marlin 336s in 30-30, had a marlin guide gun 45-70 when they first came out.
Had a rossi in 45 colt.
Had a winchester 1876 in 40-60.

Currently have a winchester 1873 in 45 colt I custom built on an original frame.
Not a rifle, but currently have a winchester 1887 in 10ga, made about 1893-1894.

Been thinking about one of the marlin 1895 cowboy rifles in 45-70.
I have a thing for octagonal barrels.

Very cool.

I only have one of the Chinese copies,
But a trip to the range with anlwver action shotgun is always fun.

I enjoy my Marlin 336s very much. You have to love the easy optics mounting and they handle and balance nicely without optics.

I am not sure if I could explain why, but I really enjoy reloading the 30-30. There is a wide range of compatible powders and projectiles to choose from and tons of load data available. The 170 gr bullets seem to shoot the best in my one scoped 30-30, for what its worth.

I noticed that there was a ton of data for reloading including reduced loads for pistol powders. How do you do with brass life?

AndyLate

I haven't been shooting the 30-30s much lately, so I just don't remember having an issue losing cases. People must like me, they are always leaving once fired cases at the range for me to take home.

If you neck size and shoot mild loads, the brass should last quite a while, though. Full length resizing is hard on the brass because of the generous chamber dimensions, but required IME if you have multiple 30-30s.

I have a Lee loader and a H&R single shot in 30-30 that are a great combination for long case life because you can neither shoot or reload very quickly and the tool neck sizes only.

I have only loaded pistol powders in .45-70, the 30-30 should be a pussycat with reduced loads.

There are manufacturers who make "Cowboy" reduced cast bullet rounds that should be a little easier on the rifle - for example:
https://www.ultramaxammunition.com/cowboy.php

At the same time, modern 30-30 ammunition is not loaded to higher pressure than 1917 30-30 ammunition was. I would have a knowledgeable gunsmith inspect it first, but it should be fine with full power factory loads.

Just one rifle... Glenfield 30 (336 copy). My father gave it to me for a birthday present. Never had a use for a .30-30 rifle, since not allowed to hunt with it in NJ, but would never sell it. Not just because my father gave it to me, but it was before they started putting safeties on them. Half cock is good enough in my eyes.

Did have an Uberti 1860 Steel frame reproduction, in .45 Colt. Sold it, as I really never warmed up to it. Nice rifle, but should have got something with a front handguard.

I do have Century PW87... but not a rifle. Might be a cheap Chinese shotgun, but it definitely is fun to shoot a shotgun based off the 1887/1901 pattern. I do hope to one day get it cleaned up, possible some sort of finish work... but it works fine.

Damn some of y’all have more lever guns than I have ARs! I only have one right now. A Ruger 96 .22mag. Always wanted one and found one a couple years ago. I had a Savage 99 in .308 for a while but sold it. I would like to have a Winchester 87, most likely a modern copy so I can use smokeless 12 gauge instead of bp 10 gauge. And I am playing with the idea of SBRing a .45 “mares leg” and threading it for suppressor use.

Only two currently.
Marlin 336 straight stock (RC?) in 30-30. Currently working it up into kinda of a quasi scout type thingy, just need to hammer out the optics.
JC higgins 36A (?) Just a re-branded 336 from the 60's I believe. Great rifle, shoots like a house on fire.

Future plans, Henry in .22, .357, and possibly 45-70. I really like the current Henry stuff.

I only have two: Marlin 1894 .44 mag and Henry H001 in .22lr . I grew up with a Win 94 in .30WCR and will always enjoy America’s First Assault Rifle.

I met a collector of Marlins who had several large safes with drawers stuffed with various models, variations and years. Must have a few hundred immaculate rifles.

One Marlin 1894 in .44 mag. Bought it specifically to FUDD out in the woods and shoot deer in states where only straight wall is allowed. Haven't done that yet, but I do check zero every year. Shoots quite well even though the front sight hood moves around. I could probably fix it with a little attention, but as this model is recent one with no collection or sentimental value, I don't usually play with it. Hell I don't think I've even cleaned it.

I would shell out for one those Winchester lever shotguns though.

For whatever reason, I see lever guns on the social from time to time with modern (keymod) rails, optics, and suppressors. Seems kind of silly, but kind of cool in a way.

Had a lot of fun the other day at our gun club shooting steel silhouette targets with the .44 Marlin for the first time. The .44 really hammers those larger heavier plates! Knocked them down consistently to 100 yds but beyond that I was having troubling figuring the drop (wet ground not showing any hits). Out to 50 yds quick shots were knocking down 4” plates easily. At 75-100 yds I had to take a few seconds to aim more carefully. But starting at 125yds it seemed to drop quite a bit more.

Had a couple of Marlin 1894C .357's and one in .45LC in the 90's when I was shooting CAS. Foolishly sold them. Recently picked up a Henry Big Boy Steel in .357 to fill that void.

Marlin Mountie .22 LR is the one I reach for the most in the lever actions department:

http://i.imgur.com/df4Q0E0.jpg (https://imgur.com/df4Q0E0)

That said, I do have a couple others currently:

A Marlin "Limited". Which was a limited edition straight stock 16" run of 1600 each in 45 Colt and 44 Mag. Mine is in .44 magnum.

The other one is another 16" gun. A 336, in 30-30. Depending on which person you talk to, it was either referred to as a Marauder or a Texan. No matter to me, I just like the handling characteristics of it, and have mounted a couple different optics on it playing around. It currently wears a red dot.

That's a great pic! I need a Model 39 of some sort. I like your Marauder too, but I keep telling myself I am pretty well set with 30-30s.

with no indications of stress or cracking, etc. It was used but still in 85% or better condition.
