I nominate Stickman’s group buy thread that resulted in Centurion Arms lowers, uppers and unobtainium rails at great prices.

The civil war thread would be my pick.

https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?209586-And-This-is-How-Civil-Wars-Begin

Considering the somewhat contentious subject matter I'm surprised the Civil War thread has remained so.....civil. That fact right there might qualify it for Thread Of The Year status.

We should have our own version of the Golden Raspberry Awards . . .

That thread is a classic. So much derp from one remarkably and willfully stupid individual in particular.

Come to think of it the member I’m thinking of has a unique ability to dick up almost any thread he posts in with his derp.

All he needs to do is also extol the virtues of dual wielding Beretta 93R’s out of SERPA holsters and that thread would break the internet and space time continuum.

Honestly if we are being serious, the Stoneman Douglas High School thread is probably the most serious in terms of first responder considerations and risks to CCW types during an active shooter situation. A lot of "wake up call" in that thread.

That was three years ago and thanks to my support group I'm much better now. :D

Also helps that I left Florida and now have a Taco Johns option which is always high quality, tasty and freshly made. Sadly even here McDonalds fries are pretty subpar but I no longer care. Only been there twice in the last year.

Soggy fries at MacDonalds?

What the hell is the world coming to?

You paid good money for that sleeve of fried starch, prepared by indifferent teenagers, and wanted it to be crispy! They probably even told you to have a nice day, knowing what they had done.

That’s on the same level of disrespect as someone making eye contact with you while their dog shits on your lawn on a hot humid morning with no breeze. They look at you, make eye contact even... then look at their dog laying another greasy rancid glop of shit on your lawn. Your nostrils flare involuntarily at the putrid cocktail of dog intestinal track waste, stomach bile, and who knows what else. It hangs in the air, burning your nostrils, lingering at the back of your throat. Your morning ruined. Any appetite you had, gone. They look back at you, a subtle smile on their face, and without so much as a word spoken continue on their way.

I had a couple I wanted to nominate but neither one was started in 2018.

Could the mods please re-open the Civil War thread? I had intended that to be a chronicle if things got steadily worse or seemed to calm down after a period of time and the thread died on its own.

Seein' as how the "troublemaker" in that thread looks to have been banned....could we have it back, please?

And it's fascinating how not a single person in that thread used the "Report Post" button to report those troublemaker(s)..... There are multiple problem children in GD. Some of them are gone, some more are leaving.

Hitting that button sends an email to every mod on the board. None of us got one. It would be nice to have a wee bit of assistance in GD, when threads go off the tracks.

I see your point. I thought he was a troll right off the bat, then he made a couple of valid points so I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. I wanted to report his ass initially, but then he did bring up a couple of things that I tried to see his point of view. By the time he got banned I had gotten busy and didn't have time to follow the thread. I went back to it today to make a comment and saw it was closed.

I think it's cool people want to nominate it.

In the interest of my not being a total narcissist, egotist, special snowflake it's probably inappropriate for me to nominate my own thread for thread of the year, but I did think we were getting a lot out of it before trouble walked in the door. There were some posts that were interesting and I had nothing to do with them.

Troublemaker, LOL! Is that what you called Godel The Logician? I would call him a dissonant chord in the echo chamber.

I enjoyed the idea of little hardwired brains exploding because someone brought their own thoughts to the fight rather than dogma.

Troublemaker, hah!

FWIW, I would second the nomination of the thread, and think it should be reopened.

Also, when Godel first appeared, I thought, hmm, is that a Nazi nameand goggled it. Kurt Gödel was a mathematician, logician, and philosopher. I kind of figured that was the way banned dude was trying to roll.

Just the typical DNC/leftist/liberal/progressive regurgitated rhetoric .... conservatives are Nazis and murder blacks, Jews, Sikhs, gays blah....blah....blah and the worst the left does in this country is knock hats off peoples heads and spit on them once in awhile.

He started out in another thread about firearms and ammunition stores cached for disasters so if you take that into account along with how he was triggered by the Civil War 2.0 thread it's obvious he takes issue with armed conservatives and their views on the nation's current sociopolitical climate. But hey that's what passes for a logician these days LOLIRL!

I would like to request this also. As well as acknowledge my role in causing it to be locked to begin with.

Despite the shenanigans that caused the thread to be locked, I feel it was educational both up to and during that point. For those who might not have much exposure to varying points of view it did provide (a small sample of) insight into how some others view the things we do/behave.

As far as reporting that individual, to me it felt hypocritical given the current state of the general/social media habit of late to try to silence people they disagree with.

It actually had remarkably little hostility in it prior to Godel showing up.
The fact that so many posters in there seemed to be on more or less the same page might be a concerning indication of the plausibility of the scenarios being discussed..
