So I recently acquired my dream rifle, a genuine ZM Weapons LR300. I'm trying to find a few parts for it, mainly the front tri-rail and the unique pistol grip, but these grips are impossible to find.
I don't really know anything about mail order 3D printing, but is it possible to print a grip similar to this? How would I go about doing that?
Thanks for the help guys.

I have an LR-300 with the OG grip. Interesting rifle. Fun as hell but doesn't get shot much anymore.

I got the Delrin grip in a weird way. I literally called up Al Zitta at his house. Like I got a huge runaround from YHM who told me to call ParaOrd who sent me back to YHM and somehow I got to Al Zitta. He said "Just send me 20 bucks and a note. I still got a few somewhere."

Then like a couple weeks later I got the 1911 angle Delrin grip. This was quite some years ago now.

Good luck all the same.

Haha I actually messaged him on Facebook two days ago, but no reply yet, which I expected.
Do you have his number or email? Or will you sell any of your parts? :D

It was 7-8 years ago that I hit him up. I have long long since lost that scratch paper with his number. YHM said it was to 'ZM Weapons' which was actually his home number. He was totally cool though.

And sorry, I am not parting out my LR-300. I have it just right. And...once you get yours configured, resist the temptation to hang out near nuclear plants in euro camo and gas mask while subsiding on nothing but spam and Vodka.

....Strelok ;)

Haha, no problem man. My biggest temptation will be ridding the Galaxy of Vektan scum, but I'll need to convert my LR300 to bullpup configuration, first!

So, the ZM LR300 is like an AR, commie-dog style?

You’d have to have someone scan it, they’d use some software to convert the point data to a CAD file, and have one printed. This wouldn’t be cheap unless the price has come down a lot in recent years. It would be as accurate as the scanner and the software/settings.

Or someone could just measure it and make a CAD file. It looks fairly simple as it’s machined. I’m self taught with CAD, bought a bunch of measuring devices, and did exactly this for some ACR trunnions I reverse engineered, redesigned, and had machined. This is as accurate as the tolerances of the single sample and the person/measuring equipment. For the trunnions, I used 3 samples.

For it, I’d suggest having them machined since it’s machined in the first place.

The approximately 1995 ones I saw at Knob Creek reminded me a bit of the FN FNC externally. Think it was the forearm and sight layout.

So I recently acquired my dream rifle, a genuine ZM Weapons LR300.

I really hate you! I've been offering people ridiculous money for an original ZM LR300

Ive got a MakerBot Replicator + 3d printer. This is a grip that I have printed in the past:
55054

Its based of a standard A2 grip but angled for better comfort. I designed it and had to do 3 revisions. Give me a couple days and I will get on Inventor and submit a few designs to you. If you like them, I can print them. I don't have black filament, I only have charcoal grey.

Gotta keep watching GunBroker! They pop up but I could never afford one... Hell, I can't now, that's why I sold one gun, and am in the process of selling another. But I couldn't miss the opportunity to finally own one!
Mine is the first generation with the lower and non-removable front sight. I actually like it more because, conveniently, the iron sights can actually be used with a compact ACOG in a high mount, making them great backups. I'll post pictures of that in a few days.
ANYWAY, please let me know how the prototyping goes! I'll be looking forward to that for sure.

After 6.5 hours ,here is my first attempt after printing and painting using sating black spray paint. I used the A2 grip CAD file as the base for the model and I used Autodesk Inventor Pro. This ZM style grip looks close to the original (im going off pictures on the internet), but has some fitment issues and I think is a little oversized. I will have to do some more work, this grip doesn't have the area for the springs or grip screw. I am going to place an order tomorrow for more filament and hopefully I will get it this week or next and I can give it another shot.

The angle is way off and the grip is much bulkier than the A2

55060
They are about the same height but the ZM grip is wider and thicker than it should be.

WOW, amazing progress! I'm seriously impressed, and very appreciative, that you've done this so quickly. I was not expecting that.
Keep updating as you go! Thanks again

You quoted me, but addressed Firefly. If you mean me, I’m sorry, just not enough time in the day.

I was asking Firefly if he would be willing to send his LR300 grip to someone for the measurements, such as to elephant for comparison with his prototype.
