Been messing around with one for 3 months now. For plinking beer cans and such I'd say it's good up 50 yards or so. Firing at full auto is another story. :D

Thanks for the reply. Anyone know of any ballistic/trajectory charts for this barrel length?

Define "effective".

If you mean the distance at which you can hit a torso it will be more a matter of your skill than barrel length.

If you mean producing a large permanent cavity due to bullet fragmentation it will be highly dependant on ammunition choice. With good ammo (Mk262, 75gr 5.56 TAP) you will still probably be disappointed.

If this is a terminal performace issue I recommend posting in the Terminal Ballistics area for solid info direct from the good Dr.
